Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Lions this weekend: B+.

Nobody else had Ethan Driskell anywhere near the Round 6 slot. The Lions did, by 42 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. However the rest shakes out, Wiggins at that price is a win they earned. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Matthew Judon gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick34 Rnd2 Nate Wiggins
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nate Wiggins at Round 2, Pick 2. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick61 Rnd2 Mike Sainristil
No drama and no debate, Mike Sainristil went about where he belonged in slot 61. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick73 Rnd3 Bralen Trice
A tidy little value on Bralen Trice in the 73rd overall pick, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick163 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
No edge and no loss on Luke McCaffrey in No. 163; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick207 Rnd6 Ethan Driskell
Ethan Driskell at slot 207 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247 Rnd7 Evan Williams
They paid sticker price for Evan Williams in Round 7, Pick 27, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
