FutureD+
A weekend the Colts spent fighting the board, and losing. F. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Edefuan Ulofoshio at pick No. 151 is 85 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In the 9th pick they get a security blanket over the middle at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24
Rnd1
Nate Wiggins
In pick 24 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick25
Rnd1
Darius Robinson
In the 25th overall pick they get juice off the edge, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Legette at No. 47. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick51
Rnd2
Jermaine Burton
A straight-up fair deal on Jermaine Burton at slot 51, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick98
Rnd3
Mohamed Kamara
They left a pile of value on the table to take Mohamed Kamara this early at Round 3, Pick 35. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo at slot 122 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick151
Rnd5
Edefuan Ulofoshio
This one needs a full-page explanation: Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 151, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick191
Rnd6
C.J. Hanson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for C.J. Hanson. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick234
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
They took Tylan Grable at par in pick No. 234, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
