Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall

FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Allar: D-. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Chiefs did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.
They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Allar pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Keldric Faulk
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 8 with a little surplus value in Sonny Styles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick42
Rnd2
Brandon Cisse
By-the-book stuff, Brandon Cisse at pick No. 42 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick74
Rnd3
Eli Stowers
They read the board right and Eli Stowers was the payoff at pick 74. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane in slot 75 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick101
Rnd4
Nicholas Singleton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nicholas Singleton at the 101st overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
Genesis Smith
Nice patience on Genesis Smith, who had no business lasting to pick No. 109. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick147
Rnd5
David Oke
No drama and no debate, David Oke went about where he belonged in No. 147. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick177
Rnd5
Drew Allar
Drew Allar at the 177th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
