McCarthy is the plan now, and the Broncos grade out a C+.

Start where it matters. The Broncos took J.J. McCarthy to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.

They will need McCaffrey to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
