Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB- TradesC- FutureB-
The jury is out on the Vikings. For now, C+.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Vikings did exactly that with Miles Frazier in No. 209. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

On value alone, Burke makes the weekend a net positive. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

If Walter Nolen and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the 24th pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value.
Pick97 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
The board had Denzel Burke higher than Round 3, Pick 33, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick107 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
They let Cam Skattebo come to them and pounced at pick 107. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
They paid up for Willie Lampkin at pick No. 161 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick209 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
A real head-scratcher, Miles Frazier in slot 209 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
