The Vikings found their guy under center in Moore: D-. The Vikings lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
Everything downstream of Dante Moore depends on Dante Moore, and the building knows it. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They will need Collins to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In No. 3 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46
Rnd2
Sonny Styles
Good price on Sonny Styles in pick 46, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick80
Rnd3
Austin Siereveld
Austin Siereveld in the 80th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick97
Rnd3
Eric Singleton Jr.
They will replay Eric Singleton Jr. at Round 3, Pick 33 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kage Casey
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Kage Casey graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick199
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Nwokobia at pick No. 199 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick231
Rnd7
Kelby Collins
The board had cheaper options than Kelby Collins at slot 231, and it noticed. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick243
Rnd7
Riley Mahlman
Riley Mahlman at the 243rd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
