Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall

FutureB-
The Vikings lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Vikings started one anyway for Bear Alexander, 33 picks ahead of schedule. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
On value alone, Daniels makes the weekend a net positive.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Caleb Downs
In pick 11 they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 11, where Jake Slaughter graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75
Rnd3
LaNorris Sellers
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and LaNorris Sellers at the Round 3 slot is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
By-the-book stuff, Nicholas Singleton at slot 97 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez at the 161st overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick197
Rnd6
Dane Key
A reach on Dane Key in No. 197; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick226
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander in pick No. 226 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels at the Round 7 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
