Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Browns let Legette fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+.

You could see the war room lean forward. Xavier Legette at pick No. 86 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Browns paired the rookies with proven help, Chidobe Awuzie leading the way.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick86 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
Xavier Legette in the 86th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick115 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
The board had Dominick Puni higher than No. 115, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jaden Hicks
You do not let a safety like Jaden Hicks reach pick 131 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick138 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at Round 5, Pick 2 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick164 Rnd5 Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at the 164th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204 Rnd6 Isaiah Davis
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Isaiah Davis in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jared Wiley
A slide stopped in pick No. 210, with Jared Wiley worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick231 Rnd7 Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia Tagovailoa slipping to slot 231 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
