Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
B
ValueB+
NeedB
TradesC
FutureB+
The Browns robbed the room for Polk. Final grade: B. The Browns did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ja'Lynn Polk fell into No. 86. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick86
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 86 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick99
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in the 99th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick132
Rnd4
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in No. 132 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138
Rnd5
Max Melton
Max Melton in Round 5, Pick 2 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick159
Rnd5
Theo Johnson
Theo Johnson at pick 159 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick197
Rnd6
Nathan Thomas
Nathan Thomas at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It fills a real need, too.
Pick205
Rnd6
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal slipping to pick No. 205 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick210
Rnd6
JD Bertrand
Value with a capital V on JD Bertrand in the 210th pick, a genuine coup. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick231
Rnd7
Jalen Green
Jalen Green in Round 7, Pick 11 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
