Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Steelers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

On value alone, Restrepo makes the weekend a net positive. Milroe has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Josh Simmons
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get protection for the quarterback. Need was not the driver here.
Pick83 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the Round 3 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick123 Rnd4 Xavier Restrepo
Xavier Restrepo at No. 123 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick156 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at pick No. 156 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick185 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
They paid a round early for Oronde Gadsden II in pick 185, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick229 Rnd7 Shemar James
A reach on Shemar James in the 229th pick; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
