Draft Grade — Saints
Overall

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Saints: B-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Saints did exactly that with Cobee Bryant in Round 4, Pick 20. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Will Campbell
A straight-up fair deal on Will Campbell at pick No. 9, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick40
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the 40th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick71
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Nothing to complain about; Jayden Higgins went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick93
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
They paid sticker price for Cam Skattebo in Round 3, Pick 29, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at slot 112 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
A big swing on Cobee Bryant at pick 122, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick131
Rnd4
Mello Dotson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mello Dotson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick208
Rnd6
Theo Wease Jr.
They jumped the gun on Theo Wease Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
