Giant DRAFTING FOR THEGiants
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Giants answered their biggest question with Ward. Grade: B. You could see the war room lean forward. DJ Giddens at the 246th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They have staked the next five years on Cam Ward, which is the only story that really matters here. A whole weekend of picks and safety is somehow still a want.
Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In pick No. 3 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at No. 34 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick65
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
Value with a capital V on Harold Fannin Jr. in Round 3, Pick 1, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick99
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. at pick No. 99 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick105
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
The board had Zy Alexander higher than the Round 4 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick154
Rnd5
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer in No. 154 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick219
Rnd7
Chase Lundt
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Chase Lundt in the 219th pick, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick246
Rnd7
DJ Giddens
They robbed the room for DJ Giddens here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
