Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Dolphins robbed the room for Edwards. Final grade: B+.

Somebody in the 253rd pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Donovan Edwards, the No. 184 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B+ for it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cost of the Martin reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In pick No. 27 they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick48 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A safety of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 16 is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick59 Rnd2 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at the 59th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick98 Rnd3 Jordan Phillips
They paid up for Jordan Phillips at pick 98 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at slot 135 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
Steal is underselling it; Hollin Pierce at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in No. 210 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick224 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
A premium they did not need to pay, Teddye Buchanan a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick231 Rnd7 Nick Martin
Nick Martin in No. 231 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick253 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
You do not let a running back like Donovan Edwards reach the 253rd pick and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick256 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at the 256th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
