Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Jaguars a B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Jaguars did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Kamara has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan at Round 2, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick81
Rnd3
Skyler Bell
They took Skyler Bell at par in slot 81, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick88
Rnd3
Mikail Kamara
Mikail Kamara in pick No. 88 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick100
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Harold Perkins Jr.. The roster fit checks out.
Pick124
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
No drama and no debate, Keylan Rutledge went about where he belonged in pick 124. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
