Gavvo888 DRAFTING FOR THEChargers
Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Chargers: B-. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chargers left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
Getting Wheatley where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will need Corleone to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Dontay Corleone
In slot 22 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmanuel Pregnon at Round 2, Pick 23. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick86
Rnd3
Zakee Wheatley
Nice patience on Zakee Wheatley, who had no business lasting to the 86th pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick123
Rnd4
Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
