JDRM DRAFTING FOR THEDolphins
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall
B
ValueA-

Grand theft in the 252nd pick: the Dolphins steal Thornton Jr. and grade out a B. You build a draft on nights like this. Dont'e Thornton Jr. had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Dolphins did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The back end got a real overhaul.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Johnson
Will Johnson in No. 13 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick48
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at pick No. 48 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick98
Rnd3
Aeneas Peebles
Aeneas Peebles in pick 98 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick115
Rnd4
Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jared Wilson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 135th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick151
Rnd5
Anthony Belton
They will replay Anthony Belton at slot 151 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick156
Rnd5
Luke Kandra
Circle this one: Luke Kandra at the 156th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226
Rnd7
RJ Harvey
A top-tier running back at a bargain, RJ Harvey in Round 7, Pick 8, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick233
Rnd7
Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at No. 233 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick252
Rnd7
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 252 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
