Overall C+

A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Seahawks get a C+.

Nobody else had Elijah Paige anywhere near the Round 2 slot. The Seahawks did, by 126 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

That Simmons pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The Seahawks indulged a want in Nestor while a need in linebacker, running back and other spots stayed open. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 A'Mauri Washington
In slot 18 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Elijah Paige
They reached a country mile for Elijah Paige at pick 49, and the board is aghast. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick80 Rnd3 Jaylen McClain
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylen McClain this early at the 80th overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick101 Rnd3 Jayden Bellamy
Jayden Bellamy at pick No. 101 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick102 Rnd3 John Nestor
They zigged when the board said zag, taking John Nestor at cornerback with linebacker, running back and other spots open.
Pick135 Rnd4 Austin Simmons
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Austin Simmons in the 135th pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick155 Rnd5 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
They will replay Quincy Rhodes Jr. at No. 155 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick175 Rnd5 Nico Iamaleava
Nico Iamaleava in the 175th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick178 Rnd5 Devin McCuin
Devin McCuin at Round 5, Pick 41 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick197 Rnd6 Mateen Ibirogba
Circle this one: Mateen Ibirogba at the 197th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick214 Rnd6 Aaron Flowers
A clean, defensible pick in slot 214 with a little surplus value in Aaron Flowers. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick237 Rnd7 Nyziah Hunter
Nice patience on Nyziah Hunter, who had no business lasting to pick 237. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
