Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueC- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Patriots.

Nobody had Jaden Greathouse this high, and it is not close. The Patriots reached 103 spots to get him at pick No. 257. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.

On value alone, Coleman-Williams makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Hit on Chris Cole and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Chris Cole
In the 24th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense. More want than need.
Pick55 Rnd2 Justin Evans
Justin Evans at pick 55 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick86 Rnd3 Terry Moore
No edge and no loss on Terry Moore in slot 86; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick123 Rnd4 Ryan Coleman-Williams
Ryan Coleman-Williams at No. 123 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick161 Rnd5 LJ Martin
They barely believed it either: LJ Martin still on the board at pick No. 161. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick186 Rnd6 Nicholas Rodriguez
Steal is underselling it; Nicholas Rodriguez at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick210 Rnd6 Zavier Mincey
Zavier Mincey at pick No. 210 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick251 Rnd7 Andrew Rappleyea
Andrew Rappleyea slid further than he should have, and slot 251 is lovely value for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jaden Greathouse
They reached a country mile for Jaden Greathouse at the 257th overall pick, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
