Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Panthers finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C+.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Panthers would have aced it. Braelin Moore at slot 51 is 132 spots clear of where he belonged. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Wesco Jr.. The whole projection now runs through CJ Carr; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 CJ Carr
In No. 19 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick51 Rnd2 Braelin Moore
Braelin Moore at the 51st pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick83 Rnd3 Marcus Neal Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Marcus Neal Jr. in the Round 3 slot, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick121 Rnd4 Bryant Wesco Jr.
Bryant Wesco Jr. at slot 121 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132 Rnd4 Jordan Ross
A edge rusher of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 30 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick199 Rnd6 Walker Lyons
Walker Lyons at pick 199 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick240 Rnd7 Eli Finley
They let Eli Finley come to them and pounced at slot 240. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
