Draft Grade — Lions
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The jury is out on the Lions. For now, C+.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Sullivan Absher, 231 picks early at No. 57. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.

The Gilliam steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Hit on Ahmad Hardy and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Ahmad Hardy
In slot 25 they get a featured back. A real need, handled.
Pick57 Rnd2 Sullivan Absher
They reached a country mile for Sullivan Absher at No. 57, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick89 Rnd3 Corey Myrick
They left a pile of value on the table to take Corey Myrick this early at the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Xavier Gilliam
Xavier Gilliam in Round 4, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick162 Rnd5 Anthony Evans III
Somehow Anthony Evans III was still sitting there in the 162nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jayden Virgin-Morgan
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jayden Virgin-Morgan in the 205th pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick216 Rnd6 Horace Lockett
They will replay Horace Lockett at Round 6, Pick 36 for years; that is how good the value is. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick246 Rnd7 Malachi Breland
Nice patience on Malachi Breland, who had no business lasting to the 246th overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick254 Rnd7 Edrees Farooq
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Edrees Farooq at slot 254 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
