Draft Grade — Jets

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Jets and Perkins: B-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Suntarine Perkins slide, and the Jets were the ones holding the card at pick No. 111. Highway robbery.

Every board in the league had Knapp lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick9 Rnd1 Trevor Goosby
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick11 Rnd1 Will Echoles
In pick No. 11 they get a load in the middle at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick12 Rnd1 Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa
In pick 12 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick43 Rnd2 Anthonie Knapp
A real head-scratcher, Anthonie Knapp in the 43rd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb in No. 74 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick111 Rnd4 Suntarine Perkins
Suntarine Perkins at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick151 Rnd5 Terrance Carter Jr.
Terrance Carter Jr. in the 151st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick191 Rnd6 Shadre Hurst
Shadre Hurst in slot 191 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick211 Rnd6 Jacob Ponton
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with Jacob Ponton worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
