Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall C
ValueC- NeedB TradesA+ FutureF
Nobody dealt better than the Dolphins this weekend: C.

The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Will Kacmarek, 229 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In the 11th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick30 Rnd1 Chris Johnson
In slot 30 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Chris Bell
No edge and no loss on Chris Bell in Round 2, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jacob Rodriguez
They paid sticker price for Jacob Rodriguez in pick No. 44, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Kyle Louis
They paid up for Kyle Louis at No. 75 when waiting would have done the job. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76 Rnd3 Michael Taaffe
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Michael Taaffe. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick77 Rnd3 Trey Moore
Trey Moore at the 77th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Caleb Douglas
They reached a country mile for Caleb Douglas at pick No. 87, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90 Rnd3 Will Kacmarek
Will Kacmarek in pick 90 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick130 Rnd4 Kevin Coleman Jr.
A big swing on Kevin Coleman Jr. at the 130th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
