Draft Grade — Colts
Overall C+

Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Colts: C+.

The Elijah Paige selection is the head-turner. The Colts reached 133 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.

The Hampton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Elijah Paige
Elijah Paige at the Round 2 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Jelani McDonald
You do not let a safety like Jelani McDonald reach Round 3, Pick 9 and blink. They did not. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick116 Rnd4 Ashton Hampton
Ashton Hampton in the 116th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick150 Rnd5 Raleek Brown
Steal is underselling it; Raleek Brown at No. 150 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick172 Rnd5 Tony Rojas
Circle this one: Tony Rojas at slot 172 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick192 Rnd6 Nicholas Rodriguez
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 192 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick221 Rnd6 Drew Bobo
Drew Bobo in the 221st overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jesse Perry
Jesse Perry at No. 232 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
