Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Buccaneers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The Buccaneers torched the value chart for Xavier Lucas, taking him 60 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

That Sorsby pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Dylan Stewart
In pick No. 5 they get a premier pass rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jacarrius Peak
Jacarrius Peak in the 36th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick71 Rnd3 Dashawn Spears
They let Dashawn Spears come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick108 Rnd4 Xavier Lucas
They reached into another round for Xavier Lucas, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick142 Rnd5 Brendan Sorsby
Taking Brendan Sorsby in pick 142 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick184 Rnd6 Drake Lindsey
Drake Lindsey in Round 6, Pick 4 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick228 Rnd7 Earnest Greene III
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Earnest Greene III graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
