Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall C
ValueD- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The jury is out on the Broncos. For now, C.

The Noah Carter pick is the one that will follow the Broncos into the fall. They took him 239 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.

Getting Moten Sr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Lance Heard
In the 24th overall pick they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
Pick56 Rnd2 Noah Carter
A wild overpay on Noah Carter in No. 56, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick88 Rnd3 Ryan Coleman-Williams
Ryan Coleman-Williams at pick 88 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Ahmad Moten Sr.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Ahmad Moten Sr. reach slot 126 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick136 Rnd4 Sam Leavitt
Sam Leavitt in the 136th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick161 Rnd5 Adam Trick
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, Adam Trick in Round 5, Pick 24, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick204 Rnd6 Xavier Lucas
Xavier Lucas at pick No. 204 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick226 Rnd7 John Nestor
John Nestor in the 226th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick245 Rnd7 Ezra Christensen
The board fumbled Ezra Christensen all the way to Round 7, Pick 24, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
