Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals robbed the room for Fletcher Jr.. Final grade: B.

The board owed the Bengals one, and it paid up: Mark Fletcher Jr., the No. 64 name on the board, sitting there at Round 4, Pick 16 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Matthews has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Trevor Goosby
In pick No. 16 they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 John Henry Daley
John Henry Daley in Round 2, Pick 18 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick81 Rnd3 Charlie Becker
They robbed the room for Charlie Becker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick99 Rnd3 Mike Matthews
A real head-scratcher, Mike Matthews in the 99th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick118 Rnd4 Mark Fletcher Jr.
Mark Fletcher Jr. at slot 118 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick155 Rnd5 Isaac Brown
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Isaac Brown in pick 155, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick197 Rnd6 Sahir West
Circle this one: Sahir West at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick237 Rnd7 Horace Lockett
Horace Lockett at the 237th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
