Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+

Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Bears.

The Bears went off the board in a big way for Jesse Perry, 140 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

On value alone, Frazier makes the weekend a net positive. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

So much rides on Trevor Lauck that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Trevor Lauck
In pick No. 23 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 Jesse Perry
Jesse Perry in the 54th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick85 Rnd3 Jyaire Hill
Jyaire Hill at the 85th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122 Rnd4 Nate Frazier
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Nate Frazier in pick 122, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick147 Rnd5 Reed Harris
Circle this one: Reed Harris at Round 5, Pick 10 is a fall that decides a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick203 Rnd6 Wendell Gregory
Taking Wendell Gregory in No. 203 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick243 Rnd7 Jalen Thompson
Value with a capital V on Jalen Thompson in the 243rd overall pick, a genuine coup. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
