Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Muhammad should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a B+.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Dolphins came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.

Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback and running back open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. The Muhammad pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The Overton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In slot 18 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 LT Overton
They paid a round early for LT Overton in the 43rd overall pick, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick53 Rnd2 Blake Miller
Blake Miller in Round 2, Pick 21 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Value with a capital V on Keionte Scott in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick82 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew slid further than he should have, and No. 82 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick87 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange at the 87th pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick90 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Zakee Wheatley at the 90th overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick99 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Malik Muhammad in Round 3, Pick 35 leaves quarterback and running back for later.
Pick111 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
They jumped the gun on Keylan Rutledge, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The roster fit checks out.
Pick149 Rnd5 Kevin Coleman Jr.
They paid sticker price for Kevin Coleman Jr. in pick 149, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick227 Rnd7 Miles Kitselman
Miles Kitselman in the 227th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Pick234 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
The board had cheaper options than Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 234, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
