Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Dolphins.

The needs board said one thing and the Dolphins did another, using the 87th overall pick on Malik Muhammad while quarterback, wide receiver and other spots waited. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Muhammad pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

They are betting Reed-Adams proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In slot 11 they get a potential shutdown corner. More want than need.
Pick43 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Nothing to complain about; Christen Miller went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick75 Rnd3 Max Iheanachor
By-the-book stuff, Max Iheanachor at No. 75 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots to take Malik Muhammad, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick90 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in pick No. 90 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick120 Rnd4 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
They paid a round early for Ar'maj Reed-Adams in slot 120, more than the board wanted. It fills a real need, too.
Pick149 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun in Round 5, Pick 11 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick158 Rnd5 Lander Barton
They took Lander Barton at par in the 158th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227 Rnd7 Shamar Easter
A straight-up fair deal on Shamar Easter at the Round 7 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
