Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall D-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesF FutureB+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Dolphins to a D-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, 67 picks early at slot 125. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Felton.

The Dolphins paired the rookies with proven help, Kalif Raymond leading the way. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
In the 27th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense. A real need, handled.
Pick28 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In pick No. 28 they get an anchor for the offensive line, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
They went early on Donovan Jackson in pick 55, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick74 Rnd3 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas at No. 74 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Nice patience on Carson Schwesinger, who had no business lasting to slot 82. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick85 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott is a better player than Round 3, Pick 21 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
A conviction pick on Jalen Milroe at the 86th pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick92 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba in the 92nd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick98 Rnd3 Jamaree Caldwell
A real head-scratcher, Jamaree Caldwell in Round 3, Pick 34 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick102 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
They jumped the gun on Cam Skattebo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Pick116 Rnd4 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick No. 116 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick125 Rnd4 Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins
A wild overpay on Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins in No. 125, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick129 Rnd4 Tai Felton
Steal is underselling it; Tai Felton at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick135 Rnd4 Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in pick 135 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
They paid a round early for Jackson Slater in slot 136, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick140 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Shough. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick155 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at Round 5, Pick 17 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick176 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
Kyle Williams in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick193 Rnd6 Tyler Batty
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tyler Batty in pick No. 193, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick224 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
A big swing on CJ Dippre at pick 224, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick231 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Teddye Buchanan. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick253 Rnd7 Justin Walley
Justin Walley in No. 253 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
