Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA
The 49ers won the night they stopped Neal from sliding. Grade: D+.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the 49ers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

On value alone, Neal makes the weekend a net positive. Powell-Ryland has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The 49ers paired the rookies with proven help, Antonio Hamilton Sr. leading the way.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In the 25th overall pick they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
No drama and no debate, Jihaad Campbell went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Harold Fannin Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick69 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at pick 69 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
They took Donovan Jackson at par in Round 3, Pick 11, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick80 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott in pick No. 80 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jaylin Noel
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylin Noel in the 99th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick112 Rnd4 Andrew Mukuba
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at No. 112 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick116 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at pick No. 116 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick 127 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick138 Rnd4 Devin Neal
Devin Neal at slot 138 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
They will replay Jordan Phillips at the 139th pick for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick145 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
The board fumbled Emery Jones Jr. all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick148 Rnd5 Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. at Round 5, Pick 9 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick189 Rnd6 Kurtis Rourke
Kurtis Rourke at No. 189 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick228 Rnd7 Kobe Hudson
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 228 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick232 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. is a better player than Round 7, Pick 14 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan in the 255th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
