Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
The Bears found their guy under center in McCarthy: B. The search is over. The Bears handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took McLachlan. The McCarthy reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In No. 1 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick13
Rnd1
J.J. McCarthy
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a long-term answer under center, though they paid up to get him.
Pick44
Rnd2
Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at pick 44 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ruke Orhorhoro
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ruke Orhorhoro in pick No. 75. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick122
Rnd4
Cole Bishop
They robbed the room for Cole Bishop here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick229
Rnd7
Tanner McLachlan
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tanner McLachlan in the 229th pick, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
