The Lions did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Lions reached some 65 spots for Drew Kendall, and value like that does not grow back. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

In the 28th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
No drama and no debate, Donovan Jackson went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 28. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick102 Rnd3 Jordan Phillips
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jordan Phillips. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick130 Rnd4 Pat Bryant
A wild overpay on Pat Bryant in the 130th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

Drew Kendall in slot 228 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
