Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B-
ValueC NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Mendoza, and a B-, for the Jets.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Jets spent their marquee pick on Fernando Mendoza, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The cost of the Anthony Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Norfleet pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In slot 1 they get a long-term answer under center, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Kayden McDonald
They paid sticker price for Kayden McDonald in pick 33, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick101 Rnd4 Whit Weeks
They did well to land Whit Weeks in Round 4, Pick 1, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick140 Rnd4 Vincent Anthony Jr.
A big swing on Vincent Anthony Jr. at pick No. 140, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick183 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in No. 183 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200 Rnd6 Bud Clark
Bud Clark in the 200th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick201 Rnd6 Trey Zuhn III
A real head-scratcher, Trey Zuhn III in the 201st overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick236 Rnd7 Pat Coogan
The board had cheaper options than Pat Coogan at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick256 Rnd7 Ethan O'Connor
Ethan O'Connor in pick No. 256 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick257 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brett Norfleet at the 257th overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
