FutureB-
The Buccaneers checked most of the boxes and earned a B. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Buccaneers started one anyway for Adepoju Adebawore, 94 picks ahead of schedule. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Sabb pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. Need was not the driver here.
Pick66
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
A straight-up fair deal on A'Mauri Washington at the 66th pick, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick84
Rnd3
Mikail Kamara
Value said wait; Mikail Kamara in No. 84 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick96
Rnd3
Keon Sabb
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 96, where Keon Sabb graded well above the range. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick116
Rnd4
Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson in slot 116 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
Charles Jagusah
They jumped the gun on Charles Jagusah, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick132
Rnd4
Adepoju Adebawore
Adepoju Adebawore at Round 4, Pick 32 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick161
Rnd5
Iapani Laloulu
Good price on Iapani Laloulu in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick198
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
Rasheem Biles in the 198th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick233
Rnd7
Kevin Jennings
By-the-book stuff, Kevin Jennings at pick 233 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick256
Rnd7
Smith Snowden
They paid sticker price for Smith Snowden in the 256th pick, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
