The Chiefs did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chiefs did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to tight end, which was the need that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Landing Cowing that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick64
Rnd2
Kiran Amegadjie
They took Kiran Amegadjie at par in Round 2, Pick 32, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick95
Rnd3
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at pick 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick109
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
By-the-book stuff, Mohamed Kamara at the 109th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick142
Rnd5
Jacob Cowing
They let Jacob Cowing come to them and pounced at the 142nd pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick221
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at pick No. 221 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
