JCarr724 DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots

Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B-
ValueB-

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Patriots: B-. You can hear the double-takes from here. The Patriots took Caden Curry at the Round 3 slot, roughly 35 spots before his name belonged.
On value alone, Hill Jr. makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick35
Rnd2
Blake Miller
Blake Miller at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick63
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in slot 63 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick95
Rnd3
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at the 95th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick101
Rnd4
Sam Roush
Sam Roush at pick No. 101 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick125
Rnd4
De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling slipping to the 125th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick131
Rnd4
Kaleb Proctor
By-the-book stuff, Kaleb Proctor at pick 131 squarely in line with his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick171
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A tidy bit of business in slot 171, where Demond Claiborne graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick191
Rnd6
Kobe Baynes
A straight-up fair deal on Kobe Baynes at Round 6, Pick 10, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick212
Rnd6
Eric McAlister
Nice patience on Eric McAlister, who had no business lasting to the Round 6 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239
Rnd7
Robert Spears-Jennings
They talked themselves into Robert Spears-Jennings at No. 239, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick247
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
Trey Zuhn III in pick 247 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
