The Commanders answered their biggest question with McCarthy. Grade: A-.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Commanders spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Stover has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Commanders paired the rookies with proven help, Derwin James Jr. leading the way.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
