The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 110 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 185 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Every board in the league had Morris lower, and that gap is the story. The Moore pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and edge rusher still on the board. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
