The Commanders found their guy under center in Penix Jr.: A-.

The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Michael Penix Jr., and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

However the rest shakes out, Colson at that price is a win they earned. They will need Leary to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.

A wild overpay on Devin Leary in Round 7, Pick 2, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
