The Lions got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D+.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Lions did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. If Smith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
