Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Texans: B.

The Texans clearly saw something nobody else did in Tim Keenan III, taking him 34 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Slaughter to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jeremiyah Love at slot 22 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick37 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
A quiet steal in the 37th pick: Kenyon Sadiq for less than the market said. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick53 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick66 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A'Mauri Washington at No. 66 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick108 Rnd4 Monroe Freeling
A reach for Monroe Freeling in pick 108; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick121 Rnd4 Tim Keenan III
Tim Keenan III in the 121st overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick162 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
Bryce Boettcher at slot 162 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick237 Rnd7 Malik Hartford
Good price on Malik Hartford in Round 7, Pick 22, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick241 Rnd7 Smith Snowden
A conviction pick on Smith Snowden at the 241st pick that the board grades a round light. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
