Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Mendoza is the plan now, and the Browns grade out a A-.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Fernando Mendoza is the Browns' quarterback, full stop.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Igbinosun pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

However the rest shakes out, Mensah at that price is a win they earned.

In the end it comes back to Fernando Mendoza, and a haul good enough to build on right away.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
Fernando Mendoza at pick 5 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick28 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a go-to option on the outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at slot 37 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick68 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Rod Moore in No. 68 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick103 Rnd4 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in the Round 4 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick125 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
They took Chase Bisontis at par in the 125th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick145 Rnd5 Logan Jones
Logan Jones at pick No. 145 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146 Rnd5 Chase Roberts
By-the-book stuff, Chase Roberts at the 146th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick148 Rnd5 Davison Igbinosun
This one needs a full-page explanation: Davison Igbinosun in slot 148, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick178 Rnd5 Darian Mensah
The board had Darian Mensah higher than No. 178, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick204 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
Good price on Evan Stewart in Round 6, Pick 26, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick241 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 7 slot with a little surplus value in Trey Zuhn III. A need, and now a little less of one.
