A costly weekend of dealing drags the Chiefs to a D.

Nobody else had Hayden Conner anywhere near No. 228. The Chiefs did, by 42 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Emmanwori pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
