Draft Grade — Lions
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB+
The Lions robbed the room for Speights. Final grade: A-.

If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Lions, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend.

Speights at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They are betting Reiman proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Bottom line, with Quinyon Mitchell leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick43 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
A tidy bit of business in slot 43, where Quinyon Mitchell graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Jermaine Burton
The board had Jermaine Burton higher than pick No. 61, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Junior Colson
By-the-book stuff, Junior Colson at No. 73 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick96 Rnd3 Zak Zinter
They paid sticker price for Zak Zinter in the 96th overall pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick163 Rnd5 Dadrion Taylor-Demerson
No drama and no debate, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick207 Rnd6 Tip Reiman
Tip Reiman in the 207th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick247 Rnd7 Omar Speights
They barely believed it either: Omar Speights still on the board at slot 247. It fills a real need, too.
