The Patriots cashed the board's mistake on Lambert-Smith: B+.

The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: KeAndre Lambert-Smith, the No. 193 name on the board, sitting there at No. 240 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

If Gadsden II pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The phones were where this weekend was really won.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Patriots paired the rookies with proven help, Myles Garrett leading the way.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
