FutureB
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens. It is the swing that defines the weekend: Joshua Cephus in pick No. 225, a good 31 spots before the room expected him. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Coleman. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick44
Rnd2
T.J. Tampa
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
The board fumbled Keon Coleman all the way to Round 2, Pick 30, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick97
Rnd3
DJ James
DJ James slid further than he should have, and the 97th pick is lovely value for the cornerback. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131
Rnd4
Christian Jones
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in pick No. 131, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jamari Thrash
They did well to land Jamari Thrash in the 134th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick164
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
Javion Cohen at slot 164 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225
Rnd7
Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 226th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jawhar Jordan
They went early on Jawhar Jordan in Round 7, Pick 28, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
