Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Commanders. The one they had to fix is still broken. The Commanders left tight end untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Haulcy. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
David Bailey
In the 7th pick they get a disruptor off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A quiet steal in pick No. 71: A.J. Haulcy for less than the market said. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick145
Rnd5
DeMonte Capehart
A tidy bit of business in the 145th overall pick, where DeMonte Capehart graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick185
Rnd6
Josh Moten
Josh Moten at the Round 6 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at Round 6, Pick 17 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick223
Rnd7
J. Michael Sturdivant
A tidy little value on J. Michael Sturdivant in slot 223, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
