Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Chiefs lost the trade table, and the D+ tells the story.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Chiefs, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Carson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback. The cost of the Ford reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

However the rest shakes out, Eboigbe at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Ladd McConkey
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kiran Amegadjie
A straight-up fair deal on Kiran Amegadjie at pick No. 58, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick65 Rnd3 Xavier Worthy
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Xavier Worthy at the 65th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Khyree Jackson in the 88th overall pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cade Stover
They did well to land Cade Stover in slot 91, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick95 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A tidy little value on Dominick Puni in No. 95, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick101 Rnd4 Caelen Carson
A curious use of pick 101. Quarterback needed the pick; a cornerback in Caelen Carson did not.
Pick132 Rnd4 Fabien Lovett
They paid a round early for Fabien Lovett in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick158 Rnd5 Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in slot 158 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick165 Rnd5 Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at the Round 5 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick172 Rnd5 Mason McCormick
A tidy bit of business in the 172nd pick, where Mason McCormick graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
They talked themselves into Jaylan Ford at No. 175, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick177 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
They paid up for Kendall Milton at Round 6, Pick 2 when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick252 Rnd7 Trey Knox
Trey Knox is a better player than the 252nd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
