You build a draft on nights like this. Edgerrin Cooper had no business being available in pick No. 95, and the Buccaneers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The Solomon pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher and quarterback. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Reaching for Solomon left real value on the table behind him. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
